Mauritius’ turquoise waters could be your next Zoom background, while you might be observing dolphins on your time off. The COVID-free island paradise is now offering non-citizens a chance to work from there or holiday for one full year, with the new long-term visa.
Who can apply for a long-term Mauritius visa?
Remote workers, retirees, parents and children studying in the country and visitors are all eligible. You will be required to provide proof of your long-term stay plans and medical and travel insurance to be entitled to a one-year stay on the island, in comparison to the 60 days tourist visa initially for Mauritius. However, the visa will not be granted to people seeking employment in Mauritius. An applicant will have to show proof of employment or business, or a principal source of income outside of the island, along with the purpose of stay and details of accommodation.
Quarantine in Mauritius
Any person entering the island will have to follow a mandatory 14-day quarantine and will have to present a negative RT-PCR test no longer than seven days old on arrival. They will also be requested to undergo tests on the day of arrival as well as day 14.
